So now that I have the newly rewired (and too short) front blinker harnesses. I still have a problem with blinkers. I think I have diagnosed the problem down to the hazard switch. Sometimes when you put the hazards on only the right side blinks. If you give the switch a love tap it works fine.

I already know a 280Z hazard switch is not the same. I am not sure if it is specific to 260Z.

Lawd help us.

The 4-way switches in every early Z car were a nightmare. Every electrical device on the car seems to run thru those switches. They seem to have made improvements over the years, with the 240s being the most-horrible electrical junction nightmare, and the 280 being the least complicated. But none of them is easy to replace, due to the hours of standing on your head and soldering *above* your face.

My own original 240Z switch died and the PO gave it his best shot at replacing it, then gave up in disgust and horror after about 10 days. He used the pull-switch from a 510 and it works just fine without all the hassle.

Study an electrical diagram of the 260 to see what I mean ~ all the 'railroad tracks' converge at that silly switch.

Hey, ya know what? I just looked at the 260Z wiring diagram and the 4wayHazard switch doesn't look all that bad. Nothing like the original 240 switch:

http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/ ... l_wire.gif

1. Magnify this schematic a few times;

2. Look way over at the lower right hand corner, but still to the left of the Air Conditioner/Heater diagram;

3. Locate the Hazard switch, with only 9 wires leading to it!

Much more gooder than the 240Z switch was!

In fact, if you can buy one with the plug still attached to it, you won't have to do any soldering at all.
