the stock radiator on my 260 just isn't going to handle the heat from the new 355 sbc.
Anyone know what alum. radiator will fit and source.
Anyone have a Z radiator modified for racing available.
I'm looking to do this quickly so no warm weather issues.

I took car for a break in run sunday and stuck in traffic on 84 coming back about 6pm from Ridgefield temp went up to 200 + a little. New 180 stat/pump etc. so this just indicates this rad. won't handle this engine.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Jack

Jack, my only personal thought is to recommend what I did back in the early 1980s; get it recored with a 4-core COPPER radiator. I have not been able to make the engine heat up past 1/2 way since doing that.

I sold my Z once, and it basically got cannibalized by the string of miscreants who each owned it briefly. They stripped all of my 'racing' stuff off the car, but for some reason they left that wonderful radiator in it. After I found the car and bought it back, I had the radiator pulled apart and cleaned out. It remains totally trustworthy today (30+ yrs on) and I can beat the car like a drum without concern of overheating.

Others will have their own experiences to recommend from. This one is mine.

I bought one of these for my 79 280zx, good quality, have not installed it yet. Plus the fans in front give a little more engine clearance.

Thanks guys. I liked the Champion unit. Did'nt see your post Pat b4 I bought a similar unit, alum. with shroud and 2 10" (10 blade) fans.
Mine's a pull thru set up 3" fan depth. With the SBC v8 I have no space problem once I remove the long shroud and belt driven fan currently in place. I'm hoping my cooling problem is over. I'll know in a week or 2.
