I will be in CT tomorrow around 730pm and I need an ignition and key for my 78 280z. If anyone has one I will have cash in hand and would appreciate someone selling it to me as I don't get down that way too often. Thank you!!!!!!

Frank was looking for his to give to me when I lost my key but I ended up finding my key. I know he found the ignition but not the key. Hey Frank you out there?

Here I am, guyz ~ sorry, I was silently watching the Rev Counter to zee who would make our 24,000th entry, and didn't want to add to the count. I wasn't ignoring you!

Red, the IGNITION LOCK I have came from a 1971 240. I know they changed them a bit over time, by adding more contacts and leads to the later ones. Do you think a 1971 IGNITION LOCK (not an "ignition switch", which is a separate part of that assembly) will work for you?

Be sure you're asking for the right thing ~ the LOCK is mechanical, the SWITCH fits below it and has all the electrical connections attached to it. They are separate units. I only have an IGNITION LOCK and KEY (if I can find the key :roll: ).

Yes I need the key lock. I have no keys to the car. I would be willing to try. The previous owner never had keys for it.

Well, not quite. :cry:

I just gave up after searching the garage for over 3hrs. I have the lock, but still can't find the key. :oops:

It's on a ring of other keys which fit the door locks from the old 1971 Club Partz car. I've pulled the garage apart. It's not out there.

But I've narrowed it down! If it's not where it SHOULD be, then it has to be somewhere it SHOULDN'T be! That helps.

I guess. :roll:

I'll contact you as soon as I find it, but it ain't gonna be today. When I find it, it's yours.

HOORAY! I just found it! :D

The keyring had slipped down btwn my workbench and the wall. I also found my electrical 'cluster bag' back there, which I've been searching for a long time! :D

Here's the deal ~ you take this and try it on your Z. If it works, you send a small donation (not less than $5, not more than $50) to the CTZCC (97 Christie Hill Road, Darien CT 06820) and we're all happy. If it doesn't work, you send it back so somebody else who needs it can get it. Mark your check "Z partz" in the memo.

No individual profits from the Club Partz cars. All donations go directly to the CTZCC to help pay for piZZa at the meetings, food at our Annual Fall Outing, Club events, awards, etc.

Glad we could help keep another Z on the road!
