Of course you only need one BECAUSE YOU DRIVE YOUR Z IN THE WINTER!

:P

I have a couple of 240Z blowers, anyone know if they are the same?

Oh.
Duhhh.

Try to make sure it's the motor and not a circuit breaker, switch, or faulty connection. A trouble light should trace live current right up to the hot connection on your motor. If it's not there, don't waste money on another motor.

it's been making a nasty noise when first turned on every morning so i am pretty sure that it's the problem. is there a fuse for it?

Yeah, there's a fuse or circuit breaker or fuseable link for every electrical part on a Z.

Be sure the noise isn't a leaf or standing water which froZe overnight, touching the rotating fan barrel. My 240 is eaZy to pull apart and look inside of, but the 280 might be more complicated.

Probably not possible to describe the nasty noise it makes each morning, but if you posted a vid of it here, somebody might recogniZe the problem and adviZe you on it.

Sounds like the bushings/bearings in it are giving out, or possibly the brushes in the motor (don't think they had brushless technology in 70's cars) are worn out.

well the thing is dead now like I said and I'm pretty sure you are right Chris. And boy is it cold out. I'm really missing that blower motor.

Interchangeable blowers (if memory serves me right) are 70-73 and then 74-78. So you need a late model 260-280z blower motor. To be honest though, just about anything will fit with a little work. The "right" blower motor for your year car is just the easiest option

Take it apart and clean it, then put a little dielectric grease in the bearing cap. I might have a 280 one, I have my 240 one because I swapped it with a 280 BM to get a little more air flow. (I cleaned it out first)
