Are there differences between door panels of a 1970 240z in compare to a 71 car?

NO. All 1970-73 240Z door panels are the same with one minor exception:

SOME of the early 1969-70 Zs had two small screws with a plastic washer on the bottom of the panels that helped attach them to the door. Not all, just some.

I believe that this was a "quick fix" at the factory for door panels that just wouldn't sit flush when installed.

Beware if buying aftermarket panels ~ some of them don't have holes for the passenger side grab bar.

Actually ALL of the door panels have no holes for the grab handle in the vinyl, they are done that way intentionally. There are appropriate holes in the door panel backer board ON EACH SIDE, they are just not yet punched through the vinyl. The reason is it depends if the car is LHD or RHD.

I discovered this when I installed NOS Nissan door panels in my car's restoration.

How about that!

Speaking of door panels...does anyone have a 240 set they'd part with?

Yeah, but they're white ('72 partZ car).

Interior parts are easily painted with the SEM line of paint products. I painted my interior 5 years ago to get all the panels the same color. You can't tell it was painted and has held up perfectly. They even recommend their paint for carpets!

As usual, the prep is important. You have to clean the surface with their grease remover/cleaner, then apply an adhesion promoter, paint coat and then I also applied their clear sealer. All products are spray cans, so it's easy!

Phil, what color did you use for that? Do you know the brand?

The brand name is SEM Thor. I believe I used Warm Gray for my interior. I'd have to check when I get home tonight. Here is a link to their website.

IIRC, I have a pretty solid set of them over at AirJockies. Next time I swing through I will look and snap some pictures.

i don't know if he still does Cameron. a guy came back to the party with a truck and took a lot of stuff out of the shed. i managed to secure my right quarter panel and Clayton happened to have a decent passenger 78 280Z door which i have been looking for. it even has the holes for a side mirror. yay!

SEM paints are positively AWESOME. The trim black is especially nice for everything from exterior trim pieces to interior items. They even sell a textured paint that you can refinish a crummy looking cracked dash with (more on that project later). My fender flares, spoiler, even my hood were painted with SEM rattlecan spray paint. The problem out here on the cape is finding a store that carries them... :(

Chris, thanks for the testimony about the product. You know those early
240Z bumper and bumperette rubber pads? The ones that you inadvert-
ently rub up against them and look like you haven't washed for a month?

Do you suppose this product would both seal and brighten them? Or is
there another product that you (or anyone else reading this) might know
about and recommend? Wearing shorts at this time of the year, I'm not
all that worried about ruining another pair of pants. I'm just concerned
that if I'm not careful, I might have to take another shower before winter sets in.

Rubber is very difficult for any paint to adhere to and difficult to fully restore. Unfortunately, my car has none and thus I don't have much knowledge of products for them. I'd imagine you'd need a sort of sealant that keeps aged rubber particles from shearing off onto your pant leg...
