Are you sure the thread size and pitch matches?

Funny enough, I think they are the same. I was looking into having a shift knob whipped up for the 370 and they are 10mm 1.25 pitch. Correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure that is the same as the older Z cars.

Nope. Unless he has some sort of crazy different shift lever, its not the same size. My shifter is M10x1.25, its the MSA short throw, and its made out of much meatier stock than the stock shift rod. I think the stock is more like M8x1.25, but I can't find where I put it.

I just looked it up and owe you a Coke, Chris. It is 8 and not 10. Easy enough fix though, the standard 8mm 1.25 helicoil has 10mm 1.25 threads on the exterior :)

Ah, that's a good idea! Too bad it doesn't work in reverse, I liked my old shift knob better...

Hmmm, I can't imagine it would be too hard to cut the threaded section and weld on a new stud in the right threads. Might be overkill for just changing out a shift knob, but its a thought :)

Nah, I have other ways of fixing my problems, like new transmissions.

Ok, well its not really going to give me my old shift knob back, but as momma always said its what's on the inside that counts. My stock FS5W71B transmission is getting tired...
