Sorry also, forgot this was a Parts Wanted Ad.

I agree with you Frank, it is easier and cost way less to build a v8 for the 500whp but I fell victim to "while I am at it" so I will be pushing my lil L6 beyond what is "norm". If I don't beat on it and watch everything I am doing.....she should last for years.

Part of building this motor is to see where I can take it. Head has MAJOR port n polish work.....a stock cam of a certain Z car and a nice built bottom end. This motor is being built not to be a dog off boost, low rpm and then a screamer once boost comes in. Exotic parts, kinda....does it cost a lot....way more than my v8 build...but that is the cost to be differnt and to say, "Hey, I think I just made 500whp on my old 82zxt motor"

frank, everything you say is true for a normally aspirated car but it all goes out the window when you use a turbo and build the motor to run with a turbo. Turbos give you massive torque low down in the RPM range and since the motor is making power at lower rpm's, there are greatly decreased forces on the internals. The greatest forces on bearing, conrods, and crankshafts are the inertial forces exerted in reversing the direction of reciprocating parts. These forces increase in proportion to the square of the rpm's (inertia is a squared function of velocity), so if you double rpm's you have four times the stress and if you triple rpm's you have 9 times as much.If you double the power output of a motor by doubling the rpm's then you have four times as much internal stress but if you double the output by doubling the torque, you only have twice the internal stresses. A turbo lets you make tons of torque and power at thousands of rpm's less than you need to spin a normally aspirated engine to provide the same amount of power. Therefore, making 350 or 400 hp with an l-28 is completely possible without any exotic engine work. The turbo guys are finding that 400 hp is easily reliably obtained on cars that have a stock bottom end except for having the conrods (which are already forged in L-series motors) shot-peened and for installation of forged pistons. They use stock turbo heads and camshafts without major modification to make these numbers. The turbos are generally T3/T4 hybrids, pretty similar to stock, and intercoolers are added so the boost numbers can go way up.Boost threshholds can be as low as 2000 rpm's and turbo lag is greatly reduced with proper turbo choice and modern ball-bearing turbos. If you wanna GOOOO, go TURBOOOO!

Create a post concerning a crank and it doesn't take long before we're not only talking about strokers, but turbos as well! LOL.

I figured a short stroke crank wouldn't be too hard to find - most people would be upgrading to longer stroke versions.

I am limited to 2.5 liters unless I want to move up in class, which I don't want to do. Rather be the big fish in the small pond!

Sorry, guys, me and my big yap! I didn't mean to start anything, I was
just trying to think of some INEXPENSIVE AND READILY AVAILABLE
solution. For us, 2393cc and 151 HP are more than we would ever use.
