She likes the older Z cars better I think early to mid 70's, running or not, let me know what you got if anyone has a good project car for me to resurrect for her. Thanks

Actually, you can swap an AT into nearly any model year which had one as an option. Takes a bit of wrenching and a few new throttle and vacuum modules, but it can be done. Finding a good AT box for the year Z you pick will be the real challenge.

Gotta see what year she settles on first... I might try to teach her how to drive a manual again. She just gets overwhelmed. I mean she drove from one side of town to the other and did fine, stop and go and everything. Then I took he to a parking lot to practice taking off and stopping because every once in a while she would forget about the clutch. Well there were some people sitting in the parking lot drinking and they were watching us, (by us I mean her driving) and she got overwhelmed. Really stressed and wouldn't try anymore and hasn't tried again since that day and that was over a year ago. I will have to try to get her to give it another shot.

I am converting my automatic 78 280z to 5 speed. Are you interested in the automatic setup?

Not meaning to muddy up your waters, but if you're looking for a REAL resto project, we found this late 70s 280 Automatic in CHICK's AUTO PARTS (junkyard) in Wallingford last year. The interior has been stripped and I doubt if you'd be actually interested in restoring the car itself, but the AT was still in there last time we looked.

CHICK's cars are packed tightly side by side, but he doesn't stack them or crush them. If you need a major part off one, he forklifts it out into the open so you can pick parts off it. He will also take the car to his indoor lift and remove parts for you if you want, but he's a bit 'pricey'.

Just for the record...the best way to teach a woman to drive a manual is to get another woman to teach her. Doing it yourself never works. I consider myself to be an expert on women, since I've been married twice...

Hi Chad. Not sure if you found your automatic Z yet from this post in the fall. Please see my recent post in the "sale" forum re 1979 280zx. It was my grandfathers and is a great car! Also v affordable. Hope you're well.
