This 1978 (first registered 1979) 280ZX might never see the road again, but it has an intact driveline which includes a 4Bbl carb, 5 speed box, driveshaft, differential and popular wheels. Good driveline for an earlier Z project.

The car rolls and can be easily accessed for a trailer. Floors are gone (and probably frame rails too) but the interior and all glass are intact. Many useable parts if you have a ZX project ongoing. Front bumper has been pulled completely off the frame by amateur idiots moving it with a Bobcat.

Best offer around $800 and you haul it. Located in central CT.

Beside the ZX is a 1972 240Z with the entire front end removed (by force, traumatically, in traffic). The car has a complete rare WHITE interior, good glass and a perfect dash, including all instruments and an early radio. Best offer around $400 and you figure a way to haul it out (no undercarriage, the car sits on the ground).

PM Frank.

That's a good start for an early z rebuild.

Has anyone tried turning the engine by hand to see if it's stuck?

No. As with any such project, it is safest to *AssUMe* the engine will require rebuilding anyway. On a 43 yr old car it would be well worn, even if it turns over. The car ran well when it was last parked.

This offering has everything needed as a solid basis for a 240 or 260 conversion, and it is being sold with that in mind. The induction system (presently a 4Bbl) can be rebuilt or replaced with Webers, injectors, or SUs. The block will lend itself to any degree of rebuild, including a high compression 3.1L if a diesel crank could be found.

Some folks pay this much for an F54 block alone, as the base for their RestoMod build. This price gets you the whole car, with the entire intact driveline, airconditioning and wheels.

If someone buys this car for the engine and parts the rest out, the front struts are fairly sought after by 510 guys. Makes for a nice bigger/vented rotor and caliper upgrade.

I might even be interested if someone parts this out.

How does that work? You mean the whole strut/brake combo will fit a 510?

Pretty much. The whole front strut, hub, rotor and caliper come off the 280zx and bolt up to the 510. You need to swap on the 510 perch, spring and tophat -but most people just convert them over to coilovers and use camber plates anyway.

It does narrow the front track width by about an inch... so you need to match it with a ~ a 0 offset wheel depending on width and tire.

Stock 510 front brakes are a small solid rotor and single piston, so its a nice simple brake upgrade-- and opens the door to a number of other wheel options.

Very cool. Thank you for adding a bit of new technical information to the forum. We too often focus on just our side of the hobby, without concept of what other areas our cars can touch.

The ZX has been sold to me, waiting for a reply by Frank to confirm pickup this weekend.

Demo, I have a pair of 280zx front struts I can sell. Shoot me an offer, could bring them to CT this weekend.

SOLD.
This ZX has been sold and removed.
Thanks for your interest.

The 1972 240Z beside it has a perfect dash with all instruments and radio, good windscreen, quarterlites, rear hatch glass and a complete rare WHITE interior (needs a good clean). Dash & radio alone are probably worth $1,000 but the price is best offer over $400 and you remove it from the property.

PM Frank
