I don't know the date of this advert, but here's an all-done 1971 240Z with Panasports selling for $71,000: https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/ca ... 07148.html Those of you with nice 1971 cars might take notice of today's market and insure your cars accordingly. Your Z should be insured for the amount of money it would take you to replace it as-is, assuming you could even find a Z for sale to start with. I also don't know if that's US dollars or Canadian play money. If it's Canadian, they're only asking aboot $58,000 real dollars. |

I'm thinking about Johnny Z's car, which is probably the nicest '71 in the Club. I think he has it insured for about seven dollars, American/ 8.50$ Canadian.

Tell me you're joking.  I hope he has checked recently with his company because they have been climbing in value. My friend check and adjusts the value of his policy every year, which is a great way to do it I think. My car wasnt really insured for a currently appropriate amount at the time of the accident, but it was at least a decent amount. If I ever have it to do again I will make it sure to keep it at full market value. Jay |

OK, I'm joking. But I think his beautiful '71 car is worth a whole lot more than he thinks it is, and it should be insured for up around $80,000 at least. Trying to duplicate it would certainly cost him that much. The market exploded about 18 months after you lost your 260, and the prices of all S30 cars kinda went craZy. As Jim H likes to say, 'a rising tide lifts all boats'. You could add about 30% to the value of your 260 when it was wrecked to judge how much it would cost to replace it today. |

The market explosion in these S30 cars added insult to injury for me. John's car, like yours, is something you just can't really put a number on. They are more than just cars in both cases. Jay |
