Thnx; I'd like to get that front bumper for Thor if it's in good shape. |

I inquired about the front bumper, it is straight but is a little rough. There is a hole in it. The sellers name is Josh, he answered his email quickly. The car has what appear to be 15" Konig Rewinds too. I hoped he had a shifter I could use but the transmission is the early type. Jay |

Hi Thor ~ No. I emailed this guy immediately and he didn't answer. I emailed him again and he said he had two other buyers fighting over it and it was first come, first served. I showed him I had asked about the bumper (for you) days earlier and should have first option to buy it. He apologized and said he had over 200 emails about the car and missed mine, but said he won't disappoint the person he was dealing with now. I wouldn't buy anything from him now if he gave it away free. I'm still looking for a useable front bumper for you. Keep a good thought. |

Ha ha, what a slowpoke No hard feelings! Anytime, anywhere, anyway... we will have luck. Do you think you can flatten a fat dent at a chromed steel bumper? I'm afraid of doing it with a press. Thanks Frank, old friend. Hey and good to hear about the meeting at Keith's marina in Old Saybrook. Very good!! Have much fun and tell the guyZ that I say hello!! |

I'm not a metallurgist, but my guess is the dent could be heated and tapped out from inside using bodywork tools. That would destroy the chrome so it would have to be re-chromed...BUT!....we just found a place nearby which does that work. I visited them and saw them tapping out a dented XK-E bumper and the first one had already been polished and looked outstanding. I can call them tmrw and ask what they think a project like that might cost. We can figure at least $100 shipping in either direction, too, but it might be cheaper than buying a new one. |

Pardon my interfering... but I found a used 1973 front bumper on ebay. I have no knowledge on whether or not it would work on Thorz car or not. My preference would probably be to straighten and re-chrome the existing bumper (like Frank suggests looking into) because it presently fits the car and will not require any retro fitting PLUS you wind up with a new bumper. http://www.ebay.com/itm/201869675517?_t ... I think you're right Howie. Thor's original bumper was in very good condition before it became in very bad condition, so I think it would be cheapest if it got fixed instead of replaced. Thor, do you have any body shops near you who think they can hammer out that dent and re-chrome the whole bumper? Would you have to sell your house or any kids to pay for that? I didn't get a chance to call our local chrome shop for an estimate yet. |

Excuse me sir for my late reply. Yes, there are different body shops right here. I have already talked to Hubert, who restored the body of my Z several years ago perfectly. He will have a look at the damage this weekend. Then we are going to decide, whats to do. I agree: the bumper needs to be re-chromed. What the hell! How silly that the damage is directly at the kink. But we will fix it...I'm confident. Frank T wrote: I think you're right Howie.
