Post subject:  280ZX Turbo FOR SALE

I've acquired a "barn fresh" 1981 280ZX turbo, literally stored in a barn for the last 10 years. It's too nice to part out, so I am offering it for someone who is willing to put a little work into it. After a decade of sitting, I put a battery in it and it started right up! L28ET turbo engine, automatic tranny, 147k miles.

The good:
* Body panels are virtually rust free. Doors, fenders, quarters, hood, hatch all excellent!
* Original paint
* Interior is amazing, leather seats are beautiful, everything works.
* Engine, transmission run strong, good boost
* T-Tops, glass all good
The bad:
* R200 3:54 diff is making noise
* Needs brakes & tires all around
* Floorboards seriously rusted from sitting in the earth floor barn. Could be patched, suggest replacement. While at it, frame rails where they meet the firewall should be reinforced as well. This is the only significant rust on the car.
* Should have all rubber bits replaced

It has clear title. $1500 takes it as-is. If it sits until spring, I will either fix it up and sell it for a lot more or (heaven forbid) part it out. You see it just as I got it, car is located at my home near Rochester NY.

Happy Holidays!

:shock: Only $1500?
The wheels and driveline are worth more than that!

Someone grab this car! I want it to live again in the hands of a Z nut!

So far I have:
* A "poor" college kid who claims this is his "dream car". Wants to make payments.
* A guy who wants to buy it to export to South America (no cash yet).
* A guy who wants to pull the turbo drivetrain and leave the rest of the car with me. For a quarter of the price, of course.

I've gone through the car and it is waaaay too nice to part out. The rust in the floors isn't as bad as first suspected. A good grinding and POR-15 should keep it at bay for quite a few years. No holes yet! Tires, brakes, hoses, plugs & wires. That's what I'll do to it in the spring if I still have it and either drive it for the summer or put it up for sale for a LOT more than I'm asking now.

Needs a good home. Makes a great Christmas present. Come and get it.

Thank god it sold so I don't have to think anymore how to get it from Rochester to NJ.

John did the buyer come from the Ebay sale?

Car went to a Z enthusiast in Buffalo NY. He has a MINT '79 280ZX, all original, less than 40,000 miles. Wants to keep it nice, so was looking for a driver for summer fun. What better than a turbo ZX? He's going to spend the winter going through the car stem to stern and be ready for next season.

PAY IT FORWARD, Z STYLE!

:D
