The early MGAs seem to have pioneered the idea of red cars for the Brits. Most of what I've seen before that were staid colors and the patriotic British Racing Green of the 1930s-50s Astons, Jags, Bentleys, Healeys, etc. Red was more the mark of the flamboyant Italians during those early years. When the early MGAs arrived in red, Triumph followed and the XKE solidly cemented the color into British car fashions in 1961.
Trying to visualize a Renown in red.......maybe a taxicab? Surely no proper British family would dare draw that much attention to themselves?
