"This 240Z was restored in the early 1990’s for and then housed in the collection of well known collector Mr. L. Noto and later Mr. P. Livanos (owner of Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd. at the time), it was used in sparingly given the size and amount of automobiles in the their collective/collection. In 1995 it was sold to its most recent owner, another well-known Connecticut collector"

$38,500.00

That is a really pristine early car....but for $38.5K you DON'T get: the correct Series I steering wheel, seats, shift knob, radio, valve cover, airbox, and who knows what else. I hate to be nit-picky  , but for that kind of asking money, you would think they would have sourced all of the correct bits and pieces.

Headlight Covers are non-stock
Rear Muffler is non-stock
Wheels are non-stock
Wrong Seats
Wrong Steering Wheel
Pretty sure that is the wrong dash - to upper blank hole looks like 73 dash. Can't see the gauges well enough to tell about them.
72 Radio
Two struts on the rear hatch??
72+ inside rear tail light finisher
Wrong Driver Side Door Panel {RHD Panel}
Blue Air cleaner - not in North America market
Hard to see - but looks like the wrong Valve Cover.
Engine Bay is clean - but completely lacking all the bright yellow plating and fine detail you would expect to see on a "fully restored" 240Z.
No pictures of the undercarriage - for $38K it better be GLEAMING! {something tells me it is not}.

Between Us - the Datsun 240Z was most certainly NOT Japan's equivalent to Britain's Jaguar E-type. Much more like Japan's equivalent to the TR-6.

On personal inspection it might be a very very nice 240Z - even with a few wrong items. Around $20K to $25K might not be too far off the money in todays market - If I really really loved it, was tired of looking at junk and unfinished projects - I might even go $25K to $30K. You certainly can't buy and restore one today for little money.

The Dealer has to start high - to allow for trade-in's and/or the usual "dealing" with customers. Of course a great deal of the value depends on the over-all quality of the work..that you simply have to go see for yourself in person.

FWIW,
Carl B.

ummmm, looks like I have some parts he could use. Very nice, but I too say about 25-30k range. I'd rather buy that #182 out in Cali.
