Rough but complete.
Not affiliated with seller, just happened to see it.

Another desirable Pre-70 240Z surfaces after 45 years!
This one was not accounted for in Carl Beck's rolls. He's now been notified.

This one is also being discussed on another forum (ClassicZCars.com) and unfortunately the car is not complete - the original engine is not available. The owner is pushing a two-fer by including a black Z in the deal. Carl is in the loop on the other discussion.

In theory, I'm thinking the spare car(s) wouldn't be of much use if trying to restore the 1969 car. Even the later 1970 cars were so 'parts-specific' that they couldn't be restored using electrical parts from 1971 cars. It seems Datsun was constantly trying to upgrade and improve the electrical systems on the early Z, so year by year they were slightly different, and components from one wouldn't work on other cars.

Just the addition of things like headlamp flashers, delayed windscreen wipers, hatch defrosters, AM/FM radios and heavier-duty 4-way flasher switches seem to have made major changes in the electrical diagrams of each year car. Whole circuits got re-routed thru other channels as time went on. Also, seats changed, as did ignition switches, rearview mirrors, hoods, inspection lids, WSW motors, rear defrosters, center consoles and the addition of bell & whistle warnings which weren't on the previous year's car. The 1970 cars are bad enough, and I know they actually differ from the 1969 cars in several ways.

I suspect the only "good" way to restore a 1969 Z is with parts from another 1969 car.

All true but even if not concours perfect it would still be a good candidate for a resto.

Like Frank says, and being a part guy, it's a complex thing. 69 is one thing, 70 is another, 71 is another, and then in between muts. 72 got it all right, then started going backwards. :P (73 Carbs, good example) That is just my opinion, but seems for real. I wonder if I have the engine sitting around for that, ummmmm.
