From John Pierce in Darien, CT:

Ross,

I have not been using the car over the last few years and have come to the sad conclusion that I should let it go. I would like to sell it to someone who would restore it. It is in relatively good condition. I cleaned it up and it started for a little bit yesterday then it died. I believe that the gas could be bad. Here is a run down on the car:

Purchased used in 1978 from Bob Sharp. It had about 19K miles. I drove the car to work over the years mostly highway driving. Mileage is now 105K.

Oil was changed 3 to 4K miles. Head has been torqued.

Tires have little wear.

The master brake cylinder and possibly a brake caliber needs to be replaced.

The interior is in good condition. All in original. No rips or tears in the seats. No cracks in the dashboard.

There is rust on some parts of the lower portion of the car. I looked underneath the car end found some rust holes in one part of the rail that go from front to back.

The car ran well when I parked it. Did not burn oil.

I don't want to sell the car, but I don't want to take the time and expense to restore it. I would really like someone who is interested in bring the car back to life to buy it.

I am asking $950.

I would appreciate it, if you would let the other members know of my car and have them contact me.

My cell phone is 917 734 - 3778, home 203 656 - 1054.

Thank you.

Regards,

John

I'd love to see some pics of this car before my wifes "Z" fever wears off.

I requested that he e-mail pictures and if I receive them I will post. This car (and it's owner) used to live about a mile away from me and I remember the car well. It is silver - probably the original paint - and the interior was in very good condition. The car has been stored outside under a cover and I remember that the paint had hairline scratches in it due to wind-rash from the cover. So at a minimum, it will need a re-paint. Ten years ago, this car was in great condition - but I haven't seen it in a long time.

Feel free to call John to discuss.

Ross

I talked to John on the phone today as well as via email about this car. The good news is he got it running again. Turns out it was just old gas. I have seen pitures of this car as well. The entire car is in pretty good condition for a 32 year old car. The seat seams are seperating a bit but look to be repairable and the carpet is a little faded. but other than that it looks to be in good shape inside and very complete. The outside is fairly clean. It has some rust on the hood, around the gas tank filling door, a bit on the rockers and in front of and behind the tires. He also told me there is a bit in the hatch area under the hatch. It looks to be very repairable and a great car for a resto project. John and I are working out the details but I think this one is the one for my wife. It will be my winter project. But I will post as many pics up here as I can in case we don't end up picking this up. I mean my wife will have to see it in person so anything can happen yet, So there you go guys enjoy.
