Wow, Rich ~ that actually works!

I hypothetically asked for a deck lid for a 1970 240Z (Nissan) and it showed me a 1971 undamaged deck for $250.

Just discovered DATSUNPARTS.Com, Inc, of Northridge CA (just outside LA). They offer lots of goodies for the Fairlady Roadsters (all sizes) and some Z partz.

http://www.datsunparts.com/

Interesting website to explore. It makes you wish you had a lot of spare money.

Just discovered COPART, which deals with destroyed-or salvage-titled vehicles only.

http://www.copart.com/c2/copart_home_page.html

You can dial in any year make or model you want and it will tell you where in the USA those cars are being offered. I tried 1965-2014 Datsun, any model.

I Found several flood-destroyed 280Zs and one pole-destroyed 240Z, plus a perfectly restorable 1600 Roadster! Some of these are simply old, used cars.

You can play with this on a rainy day and build your own fantasy cars!

Wow. Do they still make batteries like the one in the 1600? If the battery is original then could this really be a 9k mile car? Doesnt look very rusty either, maybe this will be my next project 8)

Yes, they make batteries like that today.

I would bet 109,000 miles, with a new top. The interior could get eaten up by leaving the top down in the rain and sun, but leather seats just don't wear that much in 9,000 miles.

Thats a whole lot more believable  Failed to notice how much tape there was everywhere and only looked at the rust and battery

They dont have much on their website but if you ever find yourself in central florida, you need to stop by ZDoc's.
The owner, Brent, has been in business fixing Zs since the early 70s. His cars are over priced, but he has TONS of parts in the back. I think I saw 200 trannys last time I was there.

Is this the same ZDoc who used to live around Richmond?

I dont THINK so, but I cant say for certain.
There was a period of time when he had sold the business only to buy it back some years later.

I can have my old man inquire. They've known each other for decades.

Our NY member Joe Rags has alerted us to this company, which manufactures hard-to-find parts for Zs:

http://www.240Zrubberparts.com

Of extreme interest to the early 1970 Z owners, is that these people actually reproduce the old inspection lid clips which have been impossible to find for the past 30 years.

Of extreme interest to the late 1969 Z owners will be that these folks also reproduce the hand-throttle and choke knob combo for their cars. About 600 of the very first 240Zs were so equipped. Not that many cars remain today, but most of those survivors are stuck using two choke knobs instead of the proper choke/throttle knobs.

THANKS, RAGS!!!

I'm doing the exhaust/intake studs and I needed a M8x1.25 time-sert.
Accroding to the time-sert site Belmetric.com is an authorized dealer.
They're located in Tyngsboro, MA.
They have anything metric you can think of and while poking around on their site I found they carry braided hoses sold by the meter same as our cars came with for super sheap.
For example a 12mm ID hose is $24.39 for a meter. The same type hose is almost $80 from MSA.
I got the parts I ordered in 2 days.
Go explore their site, you won't be disappointed.
