Well the motor out of the 71 I just bought will be sold as one or parted it out.

4 Screw SU carbs and E31 head...also has a header on it I will throw in for free. The fuel rail should be changed and the carbs will need a rebuilt. The motor was bored and rebuilt but nothing race spec. I would like to get $400 for the entire motor. Maybe someone can use it for a DD or build a high comp motor without modding their stock motor. Let me know. Thanks. If it doesn't sell just let me know if you are looking for something!

Member Robin Foote in RI was asking about an E31 head with 4-screw roundtops. This is the rare, (and most desirable) hi-compression head the first 10,000 or so 240Z cars had on them in 1970. In 1971 they swtiched to the lower compression E88 head but still kept the roundtop SUs for awhile. Still later they changed to the 3-screw roundtops (still OK), then to the notorious flat top SUs which were so prone to afterboil and vaporlock.

Anyone needing more specific info on this subject, I recommend pressing the DATSUN Z GARAGE website link on our homepage, and reading Bryan Little's extensive research there.

Clive, how many miles on this engine since rebuild?

Frank

Oh, also ~ member TIMURF is building a 240 racer and might be interested in hearing about this.

(Murf! You listening here?)

Exact rebuild miles on the motor is not known but it was only on the road for 2 yrs after rebuild! Like you said these E-31 heads are getting a little harder to find.
