Hi Folks,

I am selling this Z for one reason only - I recently purchased a 1972 240Z, which I am restoring and quite simply do not have the garage space. It took me 6 months to locate this 280Z when I purchased it because I could not afford a good condition 240Z at the time. I have attached a picture of my 240Z restoration project at the end of the 280Z pictures.

This is without question one of the best examples of this most collectible year of the 280Z. This car has NO RUST. It was professionally repainted in the correct red color in 2005 with all glass and weather-stripping removed. The paint on this car is a solid 10! Since purchasing it from the previous owner I have only put about 2500 miles on the car and it drives great (it currently has 101,295 original miles). The engine runs quiet and smooth.

Here are some of the other noteworthy features:
-The 5-speed shifts smoothly and crisp
-The brakes are excellent
-The interior is original, in excellent condition with no rips or tears
-Everything works including the original AM/FM radio, power antenna and clock
-Professionally installed FM booster provides vastly improved station reception (it currently has 101 (it currently has 101,295 )295 )-The dash is in perfect, un-cracked condition as is the original steering wheel
-All the original jacking tools and spare tire are included

Buyer will also receive an original, 1978 NISSAN dealer shop manual and a box of various parts, including the original air-intake box and armrest.

Since purchasing this car I have done the following:
-Installed new correct radiator, hoses, and clamps
-Replaced plug wires
-Installed new belts
-Performed a major tune-up in the summer
-Installed new water pump and gaskets
-Installed new polished valve-cover and gasket
-Performed valve adjustment
-Installed new engine bay heater hoses and clamps
-Restored, balanced and mounted original dealer-option wheels
-Replaced passenger side stereo speaker
-Replaced exhaust with NEW Monza performance exhaust
-Recent oil, transmission fluid, and coolant change

This car also has a few tasteful performance modifications made by the previous owner including:

-New aftermarket headlights with blue halogen bulbs (makes driving at night less hair raising).
-K/N air intake system
-Thicker performance front and rear anti-roll bars and bushings
-Front and rear strut tower anti-sway bars
-Newer performance KYB struts

This is an excellent running 280Z that I would have no concern about driving safely and comfortably to any location throughout the country. In my opinion this is one of the best, unmolested 280Zs out there that has been obviously very well cared for and undoubtedly garaged since new.

There are only 2 items I might improve if I kept the car:
I would re-glue the rear shock tower and wheel well vinyl which has begun to sag a bit (this is not a time consuming or expensive job - just something that I have not gotten around to do yet)
I would perhaps upgrade to new Toyo or Bridgestone tires if I were to take this on a long trip (1,000 miles or more)

I'm asking $8,800.00 obo.

I have done my best to provide an honest and complete description of the car. I will, however, be pleased to answer any questions via telephone -401-741-9888 or email colin.foote@gmail.com. Also contact me of you want me to send you photos.

Thanks,

Colin Foote

WAIT ~ is this the same car you showed at the Annual Fall Outing??!! WOW! I have ZERO money left, but maybe I can mow your lawn, do your dishes and shovel your walks for the rest of our lives?

What a beauty.

(OH ~ you forgot to add the pix of the 240 projects).

Three quick responses ~
1. You should be proud of that engine bay ~ it looks like a Japanese assembly line;
2. I wish I had that much garage space;
3. I absolutely am still stopping by. Free coffee, right?

Actually, I'd like that.
Robin, what do you think about entertaining two of us before Christmas? I'll call first and see if that's OK.
Also, I should have the '71 pulled down a lot by then, so you might want me to bring you some partZ.

Frank,

The more the merrier!! Look forward to it. I know Colin is available on Sunday's but could also do a Saturday with a few days notice. He really should be here when you come as he really knows the most about the cars.

By all means, also bring along any good prospect for one of the best 280Z's to be found. Colin is highly motivated to make a good deal. This is an opportunity to get this car for $$thousands less than invested.

Robin

I'd kinda like to gather Paul M on the way too, if he's available. It would be after Thnksgvng before I had any time to travel. I could stay a few hours and the 4 or 5 of us could kill your coffee pot and climb on your cars. Paul can never resist a nice car deal, so you might even make a sale!
Looking fwd to seeing you again. By the way ~ did you see your photo in the picnic shots?

Yeah, saw the photo - looks like I'm hammering Vinny over the charges for the E31 head overhaul! Notice how Colin is looking elsewhere - always seems to do that when money's involved (only kidding).

Didn't think I looked so old. Guess that's one of the nice things about these cars - they don't age and with time and money (lots) you can make them look and feel like new or better!

Be great if Paul came along.

By the way, There was a new member dark green 70' CA car at the Outing with an L28 I believe. Think his name was Dan. I lost his phone number - any idea how I can find it?

Robin

I can't give it out. Personal data is strictly confidential in the Club database. But I might be able to help you find out who he was, then you can send him a PM thru the website.

Where was his car parked? Which row, etc? Do you find the car in the MEMBER RIDES gallery?
