I've never changed a shift lever bushing before. Is it much of a PITA?

One of my old Austin Healey 100s broke the shift bushing and sheared a pin, letting the bent-rod gear shift swing back and forth at will. When I made hard left turns the weighty knob swung the entire gear lever under the passenger's side dashboard. It was a real trick to come out of the turn while reaching under the dashboard for the gear lever to upshift to another gear.

I certainly don't expect that from my 240 but the lever has developed quite a lot of squishy play and I fear the day is coming when it won't let me change gears. It seems sloppy and is reluctant to go where I push it.

I'm running a '79 ZX 5 Spd.
Anybody changed one before?

Frank

Hardest part is removing the console. Small C-clip and remove pin. (nice to have a magnet on hand.) Motorsports should have those. I might have used but I recommend New.
