For the Vacuum advance, just take the Dizzy cap off and apply vacuum to it and see if the advance plates move. They can get sticky. It wont perform like it should unless they move freely.

You can also perform an easy "leak down" test to see if the advance diaphragm is OK. If the vacuum holds steady when it is applied to the advance diaphragm then it is OK. If the needle drops, you know you have a leaky diaphragm. Make sure that the pump and test tubing are OK FIRST by plugging the end of the test tube with your finger, applying vacuum, then see if the gage holds steady. :wink:
