I had a bad experience with Pep Boys' lifetime guaranteed alternator. Also heard bad things about O'Reilly's. What's a good brand &/or place to buy a quality part?

Best to get him thru PM on this website under Sammy Chamois. He lives near the whales down along the coast.

Just a thought, but any rebuild shops around you? I found one here in R.I. when on craigslist, and I called the guy and he was really into his work, saying all he uses is quality electronics, not the crap that is used in the stuff you buy from parts stores, etc. Pay close attention the the small print when buying rebuilt alternators....if the electronics are working they dont replace them. I learned this when I got one for my Lexus, it failed before warranty, (1 year) I noticed the voltage regulator didn't look new when I first bought it. I demanded one with new electronics, and I got one. Still going 6 years later. My new one from Motorsports, DEAD, after what a year or 2. I have better luck with a used ZX one. For some reason, they seem to die faster in the turbos, so use one from an N/A.
