After brazing how did you fill in the lap joints?
Yea I'm taking my time but I'm the type who has to keep going on a project.
I just hope one day mine ends up looking half as good as yours.
I got the right side fender off today and it's a lot better underneath.
I even may be able to salvage the fender I just need the lower repair panel.

Boy, scratching my head on this  . As I recall, the rear fender arches had a slight inward bend on the upper horizontal edge which tucked under the body sheet metal. The other edges I pretty much carefully trimmed them and butted them together and brazed them. After some joint grinding, a little filler and glazing compound, it came out "OK". Again, some of my work was redone by Jim Kinsella in 2002 who is a much better body man then me.

Well it looks like you are on a roll. If you need an extra set of hands for anything, give me a call. You seem to be making great progress.

Thanks John I may need a hand.
Well I got almost all the scale off and can see what's what.
Like I thought the right side is in better shape.
I found another mouse nest in the support near the leading edge of the door.
I have to replace the panel anyway so I took a hole saw to it and cleaned it out.
The inner structure is also shot so I plan on taking at least half of that main horizontal piece off and seeing if I can repair it. That involves grinding the rear welds and removing spot welds. I'm thinking I never should have taken it off. Ignorance is bliss as they say.
Here's the lower rocker and the area where the nest was.

Rich,

I happened to have 2 Rocker panels from when I did my work back in 1986. As it turned out, I did not need them as my rocker panels were in pretty good shape. I bought them from Mill Supply in Cleveland OH. They are still in the box, are like new and even have the two tapped holes for mounting the lower front fenders. You are welcome to them. Give me a call if interested (203) 751-3015.

As you can see the metal by the kick panel is badly rusted. The vent control is also not attached. I have a lot of repair work to do. The big part I took off is being blasted and then patched. I guess it's good I did this.

You went 90mph around Lime Rock Raceway in that car.
Probably scared them little mice to death!
I know Jack Durand flushed one out in his roadster while swooping thru corner #3. Little guy came out and ran right over Jack and his rider.

Started welding in patches. Man this old metal hard to weld without blowing through it. The one one the left looks bad because it's smeared with seam sealer plus I'm not a good welder.

Looks better than holes. As Bob Sharp says, "Metallurgy was never their strong suit". Most of the car is made of 0.27" Japanese "steel".

What are you using as stock?

From what I measured it's between .023-.035.
I'm using cold rolled 1010 steel .040.

Does anyone know if the vertical part where the door hinges are covering the rocker has to come off to remove the rocker? I think the rocker is spot welded behind it.
