I thought these might come in handy someday:

YES! This will help me tremendously. I need to uninstall a lot of crap that previous owners put on my car and I've been reluctant to pull too many wires without the correct schematics. They even put a remote start on a manual transmission!? It has a nasty tendency to start by itself if I accidentally short the battery terminals. Freaked me out the first time it happened. Now I know to make sure I leave it in neutral.

 Wow, that's freaky!

Our S30 Guru, Vinny Bedini, turns all red in the face and calls us bad things if we leave our early Zs parked in gear. He says they were meant to be left in neutral with the handbrake on, and bad things can happen if we do otherwiZe.

When I owned this 240Z the first time, I parked it in 3rd gear one night and when I returned to the car 2 hrs later, the stick refused to move. It simply wouldn't budge no matter how many of us pulled on it. I flat bedded it home and to make a long story short, I couldn't fix it myself and it became the reason I sold the car. I was moving to CT and had no time/money to fix it and couldn't tow it so I sold it to someone who had begged to buy it for years. When I got it back 23 years later, it had a 5spd ZX gearbox installed.

Did I kill my gearbox by parking it in gear? I dunno, but I sure haven't done it since.

Frank,
I use carpartsmanual all the time!
Everything isn't there but most things are.
I also have a S30 factory engine/body manual from 1971 if anyone needs pages copied.

Every manual trans car I ever had I have left in gear including my present Audi S4 V8 6 speed.
Why would that be bad at all?
Is it the excess strain on the driveline in case the car moves with the wind?
Don't laugh, it happens on aircraft left for a long time parked. The brakes wear in one spot when the wind blows.
Anyhow, the trans gears are hardened and can withstand the torque of the engine plus driveline drag and can handle the weight of the car and passengers.
It's not like we have straight cut racing gears.
What gives?

I dunno, but after having been flamed by Vinny a few times (who has forgotten more than I'll ever learn about these cars), I'm not about to do it again. The "little voice" whispers that Vinny is right, and that I destroyed my old 71-A 4spd gearbox by parking it like that.
I also learned not to put a 240 into gear while towing it on a trailer or flatbed. I've spoken with two Z people who have sworn they broke their crankshafts that way. Having broken two Austin Healey crankshafts in my day (in exactly the same place, with identical breaks), I am ready to listen to anybody who claims they want to spare me that agony again.

Sometimes automechanics is like religion; you just have to believe in things which can't be easily explained. Explain to me why magnetism or gravity work? Or tell me I shouldn't believe in either of them.

["Everything isn't there...."] True. I wanted to see the circuit for the rear hatch defroster but that was MIA. Also wanted to see diagrams of the fusible link in the starter circuit, but that was omitted, too. However, for what it is, I think it's a pretty handy tool so I stuck it up here.
