Post subject: | FUEL LEVEL GAUGE |
I have Autometer gauges on the roadster and have never been able to get the fuel gauge to work properly, I put a new oem sender unit in. When sender is connected to gauge and out of the tank, moving the float up and down makes the gauge needle move full swing. It does not work properly when in tank. I spoke with the techs @ autometer and they advise me the best approach with low volume applications, they don't have matching gauges calibrated properly for each tank and a match sender and gauge may not fit the tank properly. Therefore, easies solution is to determine which gauge type/color etc. fits the dash or mount then they will advise which programmable gauge to purchase. These gauges work by connecting to sender with an empty tank, disconnecting sender, filling tank and reconnecting sender. Gauge will then calibrate itself. I'll be going that route, will order this weekend and install in next couple of weeks. I'll post how this all goes for anyone with and interest. Jack |

Programmable is the way to go. I used a ford gauge and soldered some resistors in parallel to the gauge. Worked out well but if I can do it again it would go programmable. My gauge reads E when I have 4 gallons left.. (I think) |
