Who knows if (and how) the B*n Betty voice box can be turned on/off in the 280zx cars?

Paul?
Phil?
Tom?
Angelina?

B*t*hing Betty was not installed on 280zx's until 1982, so unfortunately my Z is voiceless. If remember correctly, she can not be silenced...

How dare you even ask such a horrendous question Frank! :p

I've heard of guys installing different radios, disabling Betty by accident at the same time. Maybe that's a starting point?

Unplug it.

It's located in the right rear shock tower area.

 EXCELLENT!

Thanks John, you might have either saved a marriage or helped a guy keep his car.
Long story  .

Can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em, and jealousy knows no limits.

You don't happen to have a picture of the switch or plug which makes that happen, do you? I'm really trying to save someone a lot of grief, time and money.

Frank

I don't have a pic, but it is a metal box about 5 inches square that has a bracket on it for mounting. There is a plug off it that goes to the wire harness.

The voice is actually recorded on a VINYL DISC ( a "record" to you young guys)! That explains why most of them didn't work for long.

The box on the 280zx is over the passenger side rear tire and is probably accessible once you remove the interior trim piece that covers the spare tire or possibly the next trim piece over the wheel well.

This is great information guyz, thanks! If anyone comes up with a picture, please Sound Off. I'm passing this along as you toss it out, hopefully in time to save the holiday Zeason for a Z brother.

I've been married for 24 years, and have driven the same Z for 32 years. By this point, my wife knows would go first.
Happy wife, happy life??
Buy her a Mercedes and tell her to stay away from your Z.

 Our esteemed Florida member Carl Beck did exactly that. Bought her a magnificent Mercedes which any Head of State would be proud to be seen in.

His garage contains many Z cars, Ferraris, and boy toys to be envied.

He's been married to the same woman now since dirt was clean. Carl is a LOT smarter than he looks. 8)

In the wire loom on the right side by the seat, cut the green wire with the yellow stripe..........I think.....or was it the yellow wire with the green stripe. or unplug it. btw.....that wire I'm talking about is the key when installing a different stereo. I have 2 on the shelf if anyone needs one, or to see a pic of something. How it works? vinyl disc? I do know there is a rubber band that goes bad. O, shoot, now I'm going to have to take one apart.
