Can anyone help me with the diameter of the 300ZX power brake booster ? I'm hoping it's 8" so it will fit in a 240.
Thanks in advance,
Irv Rich

I have fitted a booster from an 88 300zx (same turbo or n/a) to my 280z. It is larger in diameter and the bolt pattern is different. You will need to drill new pilot holes in the firewall and fabricate and/or modify your brake pedal bracket. I am using the brake pedal & bracket from the same Z31 so as to avoid any fitment issues. I haven't mounted up the master cylinder yet, unsure if any fitment issues will arise with this part yet...

Many thanks. I should have specified '90 - '95 300zx. I think they're smaller in dia.

Hi Irv,
I measured my 94 300ZX N/A and as best as I can tell it's very close to 9 inches. It's hard to get an exact measurement as the engine compartment is very crowded.

Measure the circumference and then divide that number by 3.14. That's your diameter.

HA!! That's exactly what I came on here to say! :D

Our 8th grade math teachers would be proud of us (if mine were still alive) .

I can see you guys haven't had the pleasure of working on a 90-96 300ZX. The power brake booster is in the upper right of the attached photo. You can see about half of it. Getting a tape around it would be difficult.

Thanks mike; AND the math teachers. Could you get a tape measure in to measure either the radius (like one slice of a piece of PIE?), or roughly, the diameter. Im hoping it's close to 8", with it's double diaphram.

What do you think, Adam? Piece of string, pulled around the booster with a bent coat hanger, then measured?

Pfft! That's easy. 8)

ha ha... I say remove the driver side engine mount jack the motor from below. Then maybe there will be enough space!! :D

I like Irv's idea. Measure the radius and go from there.

Well, there's an easier way.
Mike, if you can take exact measurements of a chord and the arc length (the distance btwn points A and B, both directly thru the circle and also around the perimeter) we can compute the diameter, and from there the circumference.
I have long ago burned all my Sine and Cosine charts, but I suspect they are available today online.

Guys, I DON'T GIVE A RATS REAR ABOUT ANYTHING but the DIAMETER, and maybe he thickness, to see if it will fit my 240. I need all of the brake help Ican get.

At Ease, Marine! We're trying to figure out the circumference of the brake booster for you. If we can get those two dimensions I asked for, we can compute the circumference without asking Mike to disassemble his engine bay to measure around the outside.

If you would prefer that I get un-involved with this, just say so. I hate math and wasn't looking forward to opening that musty old Geometry dungeon in my Brain Housing Group, anyway.

Must be a full moon....

Frank

Sorry, Frank. Maybe it IS the full moon. But really, the EASIEST measurement to get is to just stick a ruler or tape measure in there, (measuring from the center to the outer edge), and doubling it. Ill get in touch with the guy I sold my 300zx tt to, and see if he can do it.

Thanks, evveryone , for your help.
