When you have SUs refurbished by Z Therapy, they make available to you a FOUR HOUR VCR videotape about SUs.

This video is extremely all-inclusive, involving the different types of SUs, their relative strengths and weaknesses, complete setup and tuning instructions, and troubleshooting techniques. Also included are many (many) handy little tips about how to improve the carbs and ensure they run perfectly for the life of your Z.

The basic info contains some excellent facts which some might consider trivia, but which I consider vital need-to-know stuff. For example, did you know the stock L24 240Z engine, at 7,000rpm, pumps 292cfm of air? And did you know that the stock Hitatchi SU is rated at 150cfm each, for a combined total of 300cfm together? A near-perfect engine/carburetor match.

I have converted the old VCR videotape over to CD. I have a lot of criticism about the presentation, but not about the information contained in this video. If you've ever had a single question or curiosity about the SUs on your Z, this video answers all your questions, and some which you didn't think about.

If you listen to the entire lesson and follow the instructions, you can understand everything the SU does and maintain and tune your own carbs perfectly. Every single lever, hole, port, hose, float, spring, screw and washer on the SU is examined in detail, and its purpose explained.

Become the first guy on your block to be an SU expert for cars such as Datsuns, Jaguars, Triumphs, Volvos, MGs and Austin Healeys, just by watching this CD.

If you'd like to borrow it, contact me.

Frank

This just might be very helpful to me. I plan to rebuild mine, and I want the ultimate performance I can get. I need to learn about the size needles and Jets to use, and all that good stuff. I think I can order all that stuff from them, even the little bearing. My plan is to run a 2.8 with 10:1, stage 2 cam, 3 if possible, running the SU's with 260 manifolds, everything ported and polished of course. So, we'll see what that does. There is a guy, 12 second SU Norm, on zcar.com and that just influenced all this. :D So I would like to put an order in for one these videos.

Sounds great Frank - I should pick this up at some point...from ztherapy.com directly.

Reproducing and selling that content is a very slippery slope. As a Product Designer, musician, and maker, I am very sensitive to folks copying things and then selling...

That being said - The DVD is available for $25 beans from the rightful authors at ztherapy direct:
http://ztherapy.com/
-> Left side menu -> Videos

Thanks,
Colin

Absolutely right, Colin ~ thanks for that clarification.

If you guys re-read my post, I specifically offered to LOAN you the CD, not sell it. Z Therapy has the copyright on this video, so I can't make a nickel off it and never intended to.

Frank
