With my Z31 acting up a lot lately it's not really a great daily driver. I'm thinking of selling it and putting the money towards a Z32 TT. Anybody drive one daily? Any common problems? Looking to find one under 100k mi, completely stock with service records. |

 fixed that. Most expensive one I've seen was going for $45k. Wish I had that to dish out on a Z.

I owned a higher mileage N/A and that was a chore to keep in perfect running shape. I daily drove it for 30k miles before trading it in on a 09 350z. If you're getting a z32, you should get a car with newer style injectors, I believe 93+, or an older car that was replaced with the new injectors. The old injectors were a bit of a weak link. The timing belt is also a MAJOR thing to consider when getting a 300. If it hasn't been replaced recently, expect to dish out ~$1200 to get a 120k mile kit done at the dealership. Look for vacuum leaks, and any engine codes. EGR tends to go as well as 02 sensors. Look to see if they upgraded their brakes. The stock brakes on the Z's were a bit weaker than most people would prefer, and some upgraded pads and rotors do wonders. Check out Z1 or ConceptZPerfomance for their packages. Check the t-top seals. Last thing you want is the car raining on you on your way to work. Last but not least: LOOK FOR RUST. Cars in the North East tend to rust. Usual spots are wheel wells, and rocker panels (ask me how i know). As a DD, I couldn't have been happier driving my Z. Despite all the problems it caused I was never without a smile on my face driving it. I do regret getting rid of mine from time to time, and I WILL own another z32 before I die, they are just such great cars. If you find a good, clean example, scoop it up. You will not be disappointed. p.s. Have RDZ check out the car for you before you find one. Good guys who know more than anyone else about these cars and will give you a breakdown of the things that are wrong with the particular car. |

My '94 TT was modified with all of the Stillen goodies, an awesome car in all regards but I never used it as a daily driver, nor would I consider it a good candidate for a DD. As exotic high performance cars go, the 300TT was fairly reliable, but highstrung. When things do go wrong it is EXPENSIVE to repair. Don't forget that today the youngest examples are going on 20 years old and most have been driven HARD and put away wet. Finding a truly good one with less than 100k on the clock will cost you easily $20k and up. For a weekend fun car, none better. For a daily driver, get an Altima.

They are truly an awesome car......if you got the money. The TT are hard to find in good shape for a cheap price. Altima's are a good daily driver, but plain for my taste. Plenty of Lexus cars out there from 90-95 for under $3,000. Just my opinion and taste. If plans go right, I'll see you in Rochester for the show in my $600 Lexus. $320 in parts to get it going. (visiting family for a couple weeks, so wont be driving the Z all over the place.) |

Appreciate the input guys, seems like it wouldn't be as practical as I hoped. Even though it would be cool the fact that it's still an older car and the price of parts makes me thin twice. Seen a lot of decent 350Z's going for under 10k so maybe I'll go that route in the mid summer For now I guess I'll pick up a cheap 240sx or pathfinder...good gas mileage and parts a dime a dozen or a good ol VG suv.
I would get an altima but my gf has a 3.5 coupe and I'm sure I'd get teased non stop

I've owned my 90 TT since September 2006. It has been my DD ever since. I've never been the type to buy a car and watch it sit for days on end without driving it. In terms of reliability, it ALL depends on what the previous owner did to it, who worked on it, and how hard it was driven. The only issues I've had with mine (other than snow & ice) are clutch issues (which I'm currently having). I've changed brakes, tires, oil filter, air filter, spark plugs, etc and she runs great. I believe Z's are VERY tempermental. You might start having an issue one day that makes it drive horrible, and it could be a very simple fix. However, mechanics in this era very rarely see Z32's come into their shop, so you must demonstrate skepticism (and have high knowledge of the Z) before letting anyone touch it. Once a problem is found, and a mechanic starts messing with the Z, it can only get worse from there UNLESS they are a "Z32 specialist".... trust me. One with <100k will be hard to find, but when you do it should be around $10k depending on various elements of the car and its history. In summary, get a TT Z32 and learn how to do everything yourself. It's very satisfying when you fix it yourself and you feel the turbos spool up! |

I don't know as all tires are different. Seeing as you have a Z, and the rims are directional, I'd bet your tires are too. Look at them, they should have an arrow point towards the "forward" direction, or you should see somewhere that says "outside". |
