Ok, maybe I didn't see SU's on what I remember, but the Jackson one does look like the one.

Hi Frank:
Note that the Jim Cook Racing Supercharger has a carburetor sitting on top of the supercharger. So it sucks fuel/air though the Carb, then compresses the mixture, then forces it into the engine. The second unit you have pictured, uses Fuel Injection. So only air is brought into the supercharger. Because you can fine tune the F.I. you can get more torque & HP with the F.I. units - you can also run slightly higher boost pressures.

The L Series engines can take 8 psi of boost with very little risk of hurting the engines - go much above 11 psi and the engine should be specifically built to run either type of superchargers. {belt driven or exhaust gas driven}.

I know Ken Jones built a Supercharger set up that used F.I. on and L28, for an article in one of the car magazines. Maybe one or both of the pictures with the F.I. set up - is that engine.

Paul - the original Crown Turbo Kit for the Z used one of the two original S.U.'s ahead of the turbo. Maybe that is what you are thinking of.

BTW - if anyone wants one of the JRC Supercharger "Manifolds" - as show in the picture of the Jackson Racing kit - I have one I would sell. $225.00 plus shipping.

FWIW,
Carl B.

That is really cool! I've never seen one of those before. The fuel actually goes through the turbo. I guess you could sorta call it a "roots" turbo setup. The guy who posted that says he has 2 setups. What's the chance of that? Thanks for the link Frank and Carl, I love seeing stuff like this. It might not be the most efficient setup, but it's a period piece that's got to be really rare.
