Ya' know what's scary? Those welds look like someone knew what he was doing.

Here's what that same exhaust system should sound like with headers:

Thanks guys. Im happy with the results, and I like the sound now.

Dave, my glasspack dimensions are 18" length, 4" width. 2.5" inlet/outlet. Fits great, mellowed the sound out nicely, wasn't expensive. I think $25 or so?

The differential is an R180 (3.36). I have a 3.9 r180 and a 5speed waiting for install this winter. Also a lightened flywheel (18lbs). The R180 is a stout diff, I'm more concerned with the gearing, and I can't see adding weight for added strength I won't benefit from. My horsepower level is well under the limit for an R180.

To address your concerns with possible clearance issues at the crossmember at the diff, you have a few options. The simplest is to run the pipe at a height that would clear the lowest point of the existing member (flat surface), and move the flanges to another location, either before or after the crossmember. Wherever the best finished result works out to be. That wouldn't be hard to do.

Personally, I like the added clearance of the notch and would run it as I have mine. If i swapped to an R200 I would either modify its crossmember to be similar, modify the R180 to work with the R200, or fab my own. There's always a way.

Also Frank, I think it would take a header PLUS a fire breathing L28 to make mine sound like that!

Dave,

Did you end up completing your exhaust?

Jay
