Well after all my work it would appear other the ignition relay or transitor ignition unit may be stopping me from bringing the 280z to the show. If anyone has time this week to stop over to take a peek at the symptoms that would be great. The transitor ignition unit is an expensive part. Anybody out there have a used one I could swap in to test if it cures my issue? If it works I could send payment. Any help would be wonderful. I'll be trying early Saturday to get her running properly. If not I'll have to arrive in a non Z vehicle. :cry:

I believe I saw some info on HybridZ on how to swap in a GM 4-pin power transistor. Cheap (<$40), reliable and readily available at any parts store. Might be worth a look...

I will be doing that thanks! I researched and found the write up on zdriver.com on how to do it. Only will cost like 25 bucks. Broke at the moment so I'll pick it Friday. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

There's also the easy Nissan fix: an early 280zx (NA) distributor with the ignition module bolted to the side of it. I think there's one at chick's JY, but I don't know if it's turned into a cauliflower or not.
