Before any of you get all excited (or scared), this has nothing to do with an old fart dropping his drawers.

When I resto'd the car, I added Dave Irwin's relay kits for the headlights and turn signals to remove the load from the combo switches. I also installed a small kit to add the front side marker lights to the turn signal circuit. The 40-year old OE thermal flasher units for turn signals and emergency lights were already slow from aging, and the turn signals got that much slower with the new lamps in the circuit.

If you S30 owners (possibly S130 or any other model with thermal units) have not already done so, a changeout of the thermal flasher unit to a non-LED electronic unit makes all the difference in the world. Here is the NAPA part I installed for both turn signal and emergency lights. If the price shows as $10.35 for you, that is a 10% promo for online reservation with store pickup, regular price is $11.49.

Here is another cheaper unit that will also work well, I chose to get a heavier duty model because it was already in stock at my store.

These units do not have the small tab for the OE mounting screw. I used a small piece of velcro on the top to attach them to the steering column and kick panel OE locations.

Thanks for the tip Jim! Part is ordered and on its way to me.

I've been bothered by the slow turn signals in my 240 for some time now, I am sure that the flasher in the car is the original thermal type from 1970. This sounds like it will do the trick!
