Alright! Got the whole thing installed! I had some trouble with getting it to fit right at first... it was a tight fit going over the rear crossmember and also near the differential. Finally though I got it all together and it doesn't rub against anything (so far...).

The car drives a lot better. It revs quicker and seems much more responsive overall!

Sooooo.....I'm in the middle of doing the exact change over at the school I work at, for one of the retired teachers that bought a Z years ago. Just finished all new brakes, and in the past did his timing belt and radiator, and sold him a dizzy for a no start. So I'm in the middle of this, just have the right side manifold to remove, and trust me, I had to heat up every not so far, there is no other way. Oxy/Acety is the best way to go. This is my first time doing this job on a Z31, and believe me, it looked hard in the beginning, but starting to see the light. The Key is to just think of one Nut at a time. Now this system I have here, ALL Chrome by the way, has the port for the EGR tube, the Fitting for the O2 sensor, but not seeing the air valve thingy magigy. So any tips. I'll try and get some pics of this soon. BTW jtang, nice job well done. :D

Hi Paul,

I never got around to swapping the headers yet (kinda afraid to take it apart if I am not sure I can put it back together!), so I can't offer much advice.

Well, finally finished the header project, not much in pictures was in a hurry to get this back to the customer. The job ended up going well, except for one broken stud, but I told him we'll deal with that some winter so he can go get his Z painted. The leak is so minor you can't tell. Over all, not a bad job. eventually I'll get his EGR hooked up, plugged for now, and the Oxygen sensor had me stumped for awhile, until I realized you have to get the adapter out of the old manifold. So all said and done, runs a lot better, sounds great, no exhaust touching any part of the car, and all emissions systems are hooked up. :thumbs_up: I hope this is a good influence. The only thing I suggest, put ALL NEW studs in. I replaced most of them, but the one I didn't ended up snapping. :cry:

Fully agree with not reusing exhaust studs. Studs stretch with normal application, and then are subject to intense heat rises and drops, which stretch them even further. When you try to remove a rusted nut from a "wasp-waisted" (stretched) stud, the results are often terminal.

Yes +1 on the studs. Did you put in the MSA headers?

He got them used but they look just like what I saw on MSA.
