I've been considering different options for my Z's rear end and propably the best is that i either repair the current one or get a NEW one. Latter might be hard to do so...

Im looking for a parts list, there is some bearings and seals in rockauto but i don't know about the diameters of them. Also is this crazy idea? I mean i have never done anything like this, but im willing to try as the diffy is moaning quite loud in 50mph and up.

So thanks in advance!

I shouldn't think replacing the parts would be too difficult, except that there are several very intricate adjustments which are necessary to make it all work well and LAST awhile. Proper torque specs are pretty vital too. You would need a service or shop manual and proper tools to make those finite adjustments.

Getting the 3 seals and gasket for the cover is easy. Rock Auto, or try MSA. (zcarparts.com) All bearings have a universal number on them. So say you call Timken, just give them the nuber. Not sure where to get the crush sleeve, but when assembling, the pinion nut does NOT get tightened down as hard as you can. I put lock tight on the nut and tighten down by feel of the ring gear on the pinion gear. You also have the side shims, usally I get lucky by just puttig it back together like it was. I never had one with bad bearing so i have reused them, and so far I've never had an issue with any rearend I refurbished. I'm now running an R-200, with the 3.9 ratio, and using turbo CV shafts. That's another option. Or find an old Nissan truck in the junk yard and grab the R-180 front Diffy with the 4:11 ratio. Easier to find than a 240sx turbo with the R-200, 4:11. Just an idea.
