I have to admit that it not something to jump into. I rebuilt my first Z engine in 1984 and its only 28 years later that I finally decided to try rebuilding my first 5 speed(!)

But the Borg Warner T5 turned out to be a great first-timer because there are many thousands out there...meaning LOTS of resources when it comes to parts kits, shop manuals, and online tech articles. That it shipped in a decade of Mustang V8s really helps when it comes to parts availability.

But unless your manual tran is acting up I see no reason to tear into it. I had mine out of the car to change the clutch...and once I opened the trans up I couldn't help myself once I realized how easy and cheap it was to fix. A great winter project.

For more details on the trans just check out my page at http://datsunzgarage.com/borg/ :D

Just got the case/belhousing/tailshaft beadblasted yesterday...nice and clean now. The part will start going back tonight, but it' be a few weeks until I get it all back in the car. A good Winter project.
