Using a stethoscope or a rod against your ear, check the rear cylinder exhaust gasket while you run up the revs. A blown gasket can sound like a mechanical KLIK KLIK KLIK, and the firewall is thin enough to transmit such a noise into the cabin. If it was #6 exhaust port (or even #6 sparkplug) leaking, it would sound like it was under the dash, from the cabin.

If the gasket appears OK, place the rod against the cam cover at various places along its length, to zee if you can locate a single noisy valve. *(DANGER ~ moving parts! Stethoscopes and long rods do not hold up well against spinning fans, twirling pulleys or moving belts).

Frank

So after some careful listening I found out the sound was coming from under the drivers side right above the pedals. I've heard the a/c vacuum control solenoids can cause the noise. Can i just take those out? I plan on removing the entire a/c system soon anyway.

I'm not at all familiar with those, Justin. Do they look like they're connected in any way with the main power brake servo lines? If you removed them, would it/could it affect the brakes in any way?

Or you could unplug it and try it slowly in the driveway or an empty parkinglot.
