Here's why I wasn't at the last meetup in Fairfield.
Instead of just replacing the struts like a sane person and getting on with life I had to take everything apart.
I had the strut tubes, springs, upper perches, and brake baffle plates media blasted.
I painted the parts black and the baffles silver.
Now they're ready for installation.
Why are the springs are green and not black?
I had an extra can of John Deere green paint, why not?

I'm rather impressed by the fact that you are religiously building this car from the ground, up. That's the safe way to do it.
While you're in there, you can take advantage of the opportunity to change all the rubber do-dads to polyurethane. You will be surpriZed at how much tighter your car handles after you do that.

That's the only way I do things.
I will upgrade the bushings later.
Here's the installed strut.
I took apart the hub and disc, wire wheeled them and painted them as well.
I have to install the left side still.
I'm really looking forward to driving it to feel the difference.
Here's how it looks.

Purple and green. Totally psychedelic, dude. Matches the 1970s.

Well, if it works even half as good as it looks, you're going to be very happy.

I was feelin groovy at the time.
Actually the purple is shrink tubing. I like to put some sort of insulator on springs that don't have stock ones to prevent abrasion. I got a roll of that purple stuff when work was doing a 5S of old inventory.

That looks nice. I didn't do my steering knuckle yet because I didn't have new ball joints, though it needs them because the boots have disintegrated.

They're pretty affordable through RockAuto. I got ball joints and tie rods from them. the tie rods were bare metal so I painted those whilst in the chaos of painting everything else.

["....whilst in the chaos of painting everything else"].

Yes, it is rather sad to watch some of the things which happen to innocent bystanding objects when we get our hands on a working spray gun, isn't it?

Wife: "Why are you painting THAT???"
Husband: "'Cause I've still got paint left!"
