Wow. Is there any part of the carrot you're not modifying?

I actually spent about 15 minutes trying to think about an answer to this question, Frank. Lol.

The only thing I can come up with at this point are the car's glass pieces. I do want to replace the windshield though, it's scratched and pitted from living in the southwest deserts.

I'm sure painting wont hurt anything....maybe for the avid everyday racer you wouldn't. I have a finned R-200 cover...but went to a 240sx, so has to be modified to fit. The ZX booster might fit the 280, but I don't think it fits the 240. Also, you can put a 300zx master on there and have 1 inch.

No, it probably wouldn't fit on a 240 unless you had a 280z pedal box assembly. Then that would involve a little firewall modification. I have considered a 1" master cylinder, but it's one that Wilwood makes.

Coming together... eventually...

After about 2 months of waiting, it finally came in the mail. We'll see if it performs better than my old setup (which I suspect it will).

An odd angle I hope the engine never sees again. I then assembled the flywheel and clutch, and installed the transmission (lifting by hand, it was a little heavy) onto the engine in that position.

And its in. The new transmission is about 2" longer than stock, so I need to modify the stock mount. Until tomorrow, the hoist and a small jack stand are supporting the engine to keep the tail of the transmission in place.

Thanks guys!

No "vroom" for a while. Have a lot of plumbing to sort out beforehand (angular AN hose ends can get annoying) and a helluva lot of wiring and programming the computer for the new sensors. :?

And then there's the matter of the differential and driveshaft....

i'm imagining her repainted. :? Uh, Chris, not fer nuthin', but the
color coordination so far leaves a lot to be desired.....

At the present time we would have to rename her the "Rainbow Z."

The exterior definitely needs a repaint with all I've done to it. Almost makes me wish I never painted the car, but the way I see it, it was cheap practice for next time. Unfortunately that will have to wait an indeterminate amount of time.

As for the interior/suspension/drivetrain; believe it or not there is a set color palette of four main colors that work well together for the most part (dependent on opinion). It's all part of a relatively loose color code for the car. Orange for powertrain items, blue for suspension and brakes. For the most part when you look at the car from the exterior, you only see orange and black except for the blue brake calipers. The available colors for caliper paint leave much to be desired, and the only way I saw to make them "pop" was to use blue. Red clashed with the orange, silver and black were too subdued.

The drivetrain parts are that reddish orange for leak detection, but mostly because I've had an overabundance of that color paint for years with nothing to do with it. If I painted the block black like last time, it would make the engine bay too dark. The different orange that's on the valve cover is what I originally planned for, but it's scarcer in availability and seems to be sold out most of the time when I go to the store. The current valve cover is actually just a placeholder since it's scratched up, I'm prepping a new one in the correct colors. As for the red/blue AN plumbing, I couldn't get ALL the fittings in anodized black, so I chose to just use the standard blue and red for all of them. Also easier to see leaks that way.

Whether this works or not for others, that's up to opinions of course. It works for me since what I do to the Z is more based on functionality, rather than turning it into a perfect show car.

If you want to see a true rainbow car, ask Airjockie for pictures.

I live quite a ways from where my car resides, not much time or money to work on it. I have, however, slowly gathered parts over the past few years that it's been down. I'm tired though. Tired of it sitting around not going anywhere, a victim of while-I'm-at-its and the need to have everything just-so.
