After many, many, years of listening to the plastic panels in my 280Z creak like an old pick up truck, I came up with an idea. First I tried silicone spray and WD40 in the joints. None worked. Then I removed the interior panels from the rear half of the car. I cleaned the panels, and sprayed the backs of them with a light coat of rubberized undercoat from Car Quest. After letting it dry for an hour, I reassembled. I went for a test drive and the car's interior is as solid as a German luxury car. About 95% of the creaking and rattles were gone. Bumps don't make the car sound like a tackle box anymore. I could not be any more pleased. Cheap, easy, effective. Don't forget to grease the plastic rivets lightly during installation. They are a major cause of the creaks themselves.

Saw this post on HBZ last night, I LIKE it! I was having the same issues with the creaking. One question I do have though is what type of grease? White lithium?

Use a clear grease if you can. I actually have a clear synthetic grease.

Neither one of my Z's have radios...radios are for cars that don't talk to you.

The truth is, in both my Z's, I would need to turn the volume up so high to make the music drown out the car, that I would go deaf in short order from the combination of the two.

Well I'll be toning down my exhaust so I can hear you all. I finally got pulled over and told me my exhaust was or could be loud. I say it like that, because he just said he can feel the vibration in his car.....standing still at the light. He should live by the airport where I do, and then feel some real vibrations. So instead of fighting....I'll add a muffler. Stay tuned for a new tone.
