Noticed the hood struts on the 88 can't keep the hood upright. Suspect they are the originals and need replacement. Is Nissan OEM the single option or do the shock absorber companies (i.e. Gabriel) make compatible equipment ? Temporarily using an old wood stick to keep the hood up.

They list them from the common manufactures.

Try the local auto parts store, they should be able to get them.
