I saw the price of the original gromment and I passed on the deal. I went through my old box of "stuff" and found out that the two rubber plugs that sit under the back egde of the hatch are very close to the right size for the wiper grommet on the firewall. Lo and behold, it fits pretty well and looks great.

$1.50 instead of $25.00

I believe the $25 one is for the engine bay harness. Was it on Ebay? All you need is a parts number and you will find that Ebay prices are 10x dealers cost.

MSA has them for $25 and the harness boot for about $45 or so.

The hatch plugs are $1.50  ...or free if you have some laying around.

Great solution, Dave!! You da man!!

I respect your improvisation, for I, too, like to use stuff I have hanging
around. Example: the broken-off bases of used valve stems make
excellent grommets.

Isn't that why guys keep things? "I might need it some day." "Yeah,
but you've had it for ten years now." And when is that "some day"?
You are exactly right. Within one to ten days after we throw it out!

I second that vote for Banzai Motorworks. My package of goodies arrived in today's mail. Yep, I sprung for that wiper motor grommet at $15, no regrets since a good number of Mike's other offerings are priced very reasonable. Great service!

Banzai looks like a great resource! Thanks. I'll be shopping there for any thing else I can't find in my drawer of "stuff".
