I run an ACT Street clutch in my 280zxt Pat. No complaints at all. It has a nice firm pedal feel and handles the turbo output very nicely. The OEM turbo clutch I was running prior to this lasted less then 1 year at 12 pounds of boost.

Hi Pat,

I have Genuine Nissan stock TT Clutch $240, comes with Disc, pressure plate , throwout bearing, and pilot bushing

If your Z is modified to a stage 3 or greater, you'll want to upgrade it.

I recommend RPS. I run this in my own Z and have installed countless numbers of them with many positive reviews on the performance.
Depending on the level of mods you can run a street sport (RDZ price $405, comes with Disc, Press Plate, throwout bearing and pilot bushing)

or for heavily modded Z's the RPS Max Street (RDZ price $549, comes with Disc, Press Plate, throwout and pilot bushing)

Also, if you need someone to install it I am running fall sale pricing reg. $855, RDZ fall sale $641 on labor.

resurfacing of the flywheel is a must! as well as changing the main rear seal and lower rear oil pan seal and the rear turbo water line on the back of the motor.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND CHANGING THE MASTER AND SLAVE CYLINDER IF THEY ARE ORIGINAL or have over 60k on them. They will fail 99% of the time when putting in a new clutch. contact me directly for pricing, just click my logo on the home page.

let me know if I can help,

Rich

I am seeing RPS makes one for the 280zx, but I agree with Phil on the ACT clutch, good part. Checking on my availability on ACT as well.

I'm using a center force stage 2 clutch in my 83 turbo, and I went with the smaller N/A set up, and it works great. I'm not sold on the whole bigger is better with clutches. It's all about the pressure, and bigger means more weight. Now mine came from a parts car and was in brand new shape, but if I was to go out and buy one, I would go for the aluminum flywheel and maybe a stage 3, either from ACT, or MSA. Just my opinion.
