 Post subject: E-Brake Cable hangers

If you've ever looked at it into detail, you know your S30 Z has two rubber or spring hanging supports that hold up the ebrake cables before they connect to the rear drums/calipers. I'm not incredibly familiar with the spring-types, but I know my '78 has the rubber types. These things are OLD and likely worn if they're never been replaced, and if they go your cable will drop down and rest directly on the stub shafts going to your rear wheels. Here are some of the effects;

These pictures are from a few months ago, and luckily I discovered what had happened within a few miles. Thankfully the boot on the shaft was not worn through, but you can see that IT went through the protective rubber insulation on the ebrake cable like butter. If left alone for much longer, this rubbing between two components at speed could have worn through the metal and compromised a driveshaft, or worse a whole car. At best I would have lost ebrake on one wheel and had to replace a cable. Please check yours.
