I have a 78 Black Pearl. The car runs fine, the battery works well and has no trouble turning the starter over. My concern is the dash voltage guage. When running, the voltage always seems to be just befor the high voltage mark and the red light even flashed at me once. I suspect that the guage may be inaccurate because a meter plugged into the cigarette lighter seems to be fine. Should I adjust the voltage regulator (if that is even possible for my year)? Adjust the guage? or other?

Was that before or after you fixed the high-beam switch? Could it have been a high resistance in the light circuit, or is the gauge still showing high since your electrical work? And have you put a meter on the battery terminal to accurately measure what your 31-year-old gauge is calling "high"?

I think I would want to know the actual numbers before I made any corrections. If you're getting 14v at the battery but your old gauge considers that "high", it would give you cause to reconsider.

I thought this was about that AC/DC album. :? I would just measure the voltage at the battery, first with nothing on, then turn you lights on, ect. and just see what you have. If the gauge is a little off, then so be it, but I'm no electrical wizard either., but as long as it works, and you see no smoke.
