OK when i turned my car on today the rpm gauge went crazy (went to 500 then 2000 and back down) and the car started to shake violently smoke came out from the exhaust and after about 20 seconds the rpm gauge stabilized and the car didt shake as much and the smoke stopped then 10 seconds later the rpm gauge was normal and no shaking any ideas of what might be going on ??

Have you ever seen the movie, "Gremlins" ? could be the engine speed sensor, (cam or crank sensor,) or loose wire connection,or bad ground. Just a guess.
