Hi All,

Can anyone tell me if changing out a wheel bearing on the 240Z (72') requires a special "pull tool"? If not, please provide information on proper procedure to remove and replace.

Thanks. :P

Hi Robin ~

I never had any trouble getting mine out, but Datsun made a special tool for just about everything. Most of us used an appropriately-siZed deep socket to gently tap bearings into/out of position.

When you pack the new bearings *altho they are factory lubed*, don't use more than about a palm full of grease. An old kitchen spatula is a good tool to fit grease thoroughly into the entire recess.

Do one wheel at a time to make sure you don't mix partz.

Frank
PS ~ did you get my fax about the SUs?

Frank,

Thanks for the info on the wheel bearings. I have a very tempermental fax machine. I received page 1 of 5. Any way you can scan and email? If not, I'm in the office today and you might have a better chance to get a fax through if you could try again.

Thanks.

Robin

Are we talking about the front? Those are simple, but the back is a whole other deal. For the front, don't forget bearing pre-load.
