Hi Folks,

Does anyone know how 240Zs run with out that anti-backfire crap on the carburetors' balance tube? I see Zs with and without that stuff on them. We took it off Our 1970 and I'm wondering if it will effect the car. Now that idle adjuster on the linkage has nothing to connect to...what do I do with it?

Thanks,

Colin

the first manifolds for Z's had almost nothing on them..
as the years went on they added more and more crap to 'em...
usually these things were put on so average joe doesnt freak out when his engine backfires or makes noises...
but we all know that a little backfire through the carbs isnt really anything to worry about.. my experience is that if it backfires through the carb its too lean.. usually by a very small amount..
if its too rich it'll just drown and stall.
a lean engine will run but poorly.a rich engine will just die...

so..stuff knows how it stops backfiring??? but i cant see it doing to much to your settings...
i run an early manifold with nothing on it. just brake booster line and pc valve.
always run ya pc valve.. it sucks fumes out the motor and those fumes go GOOD BANG!!!!!! as well as keeping ya block clean...
