As you know, I'm parting out 1971 240Z #41421 (Sep/71). Two members have asked for the little plastic (rubber?) end caps which cover the seat adjustment handles (if you move the seat forward or back, you lift this handle).

I have the seats out so I have unlimited access to these end caps ~ but they won't budge off the handle rod. I don't want to destroy them to remove them so I don't want to exert too much force on them. I tried a vicegrip with a rag over them but still can't move them.

Anybody know a cleaver way to get them off so they're still usable?

Frank

Frank see if you can direct some contact cement remover, spray into the space on each side of the handle. This will start to dissolve the cement, and then they should just slide off.

If you can heat the metal up they might just slide off.

RESOLVED! Thanks to both of you.

Bryan Little took one look at this problem, placed an open-end wrench over the handle cover, and tapped it off with a soft-faced hammer.

Clever boy.

Well allright ! You know I have a bunch of seats around, not shure if there worth restoring for someone, but I guess the hardware would be worth saving. Well the heat method does work for removing the hood release cable handle.
