My 82 280zx (non-turbo) stars up instantly, and idles smooth till idle drops after warm up.

After warm up idle speed varies up and down between 500 and 800 rpm.
Taking off from a dead stop engine will bog slightly.

After checking for vacume leaks, swaping out air flow meter, air regulator.

I disconected O2 sensor (exhaust gas sensor) wire. Idle immediatly flatened out. :D Idles like a champ. Test drove with O2 sensor wire disconected. Ran stong and smooth, with no bog down at take off from dead stop.

I replaced O2 sensor, but condition still unchanged. :(
Swapped out ECU no change.
Fuel pressure steady at 29 to 30psi.

Anyone have this problem before. Any help would be apprciated.

Thanks Pat

Our resident experts, RDZ and Bedini Motors, will probably have the answer to this. Click on either of their logos at our Homepage to contact them.

It also sounds as if you are approaching this as scientifically as practical. Step by step, one change at a time.

That's called a "rolling" idle. If it happened to my dirt-simple 240Z, I would suspect an ignition problem. I get lost under the hood of a ZX. Sorry.
